Day 16 – Outstanding performances continue to galore at Shirin- Saaz Te Awaaz

Today the qualifying round of Shirin – Saaz Te Awaaz of district Srinagar was conducted with great fervor. A total of 11 teams participated today and each team gave scintilating performances, thus proving their mettle and talent. The schools which qualified for the quarter finals are Delhi Public School, Athwajan Srinagar, Govt Boys High School, Pantha Chowk and Presentation Convent Higher Secondary School, Rajbagh. The performances left the audience jawdropped. Teams with quite less scope of music in their schools to everyone’s surprise performed with great enthusiasm and collosal confidence. The teams were fortunate enough to be judged and heard by the people of great intellect. The judges on today’s occasion were Mr. Raja Bilal, a renowned musician of the valley. He is known for playing background score in song “Bismil Bismil” in famous Bollywood movie “Haider” and Dr. Rafiq Masoodi the Ex-Director Doordarshan Kendra, Srinagar.

Today the chief guest of the day was Mr. Zaffar Meraj a renowned journalist and Editor in Chief of Daily Kashmir Monitor. In his address to the audience after listening to the performances, he said Kashmiri music and culture promotion is in the safe hands. He was ecstatic on seeing the brilliant performances. He also appreciated the efforts of DPS Administration for conducting such an event for a particular cause. He was accompanied by his wife Mrs. Naseema Shifayee.

Khem Lata Wakhloo a politician and social worker was also present on the occasion. In her speech she appreciated  and congratulated the efforts of all the students and staff members for taking this initiative and making it happen. She also praised Mr. and Mrs. Dhar for taking such initiative and organising the mega event.
