The day started with a soothing morning prayer, followed by the beautiful performances of the district Pulwama schools. Today we had six teams participating in the second round of Shirin who enthralled the audience with their brilliant performances. Today we had the chief guest Mr. Shujaat Bukhari who is a distinguished journalist based in Srinagar. He is also Editor-in-Chief of daily Rising Kashmir and president Adbee Markaz Kamraz a federation of 25 literary and cultural organizations from north Kashmir, referred to as Kamraz in literary terms. His love for Kashmiri language is unmatchable. He played an important role in giving shape to struggle for the Kashmiri language. He is also one among founders of first Kashmiri multicolour Kashmiri Newspaper SANGERMAL. In his address to the audience he emphasised on the importance of our mother tongue. It is a matter of great pride the children from remote areas are coming here and performing. Mr. Bukhari also congratulated DPS Management for providing such a platform for children to exhibit their talent and giving them a lifetime exposure. Mr. Bukhari extended his full support to the cause.
RJ Haya and RJ Sameen from 92.7 Big FM Srinagar Station were also present on the occasion today. RJ Haya talked about the live performance of DPS Srinagar students in Big FM studios yesterday and was all praises on the quality of the song. She quoted “when i heard the song sung by DPS Srinagar students i rushed to the studio and asked about the song of which we were not having any copyrights and availability of the same in our station.”
Judge for the day was Mr. Javed Budgami – a renowned dramistist, broadcaster and poet. He is known for starting his career with performing first Kashmiri feature film Shair-i-Kashmir. Javed Budgami in his address to the audience said after getting invitiation from DPS, Athwajan i could’nt sleep a wink throughout the night. So i was eagerly waiting for attending the event. Mr. Kifayat Faheem (Versatile Singer) also accompanied Javed Budgami on the judges desk.
